Over 700 Active Blogs from Around the World!

Today we announce that we are officially over 700 strong here at Wineblogger.info! Late last week, we reached the 700 mark with the submission of Chevsky.com a personal wine blog! From his blogger profile: Gary Chevsky is software industry executive who loves to explore wine, pair it with good food, and philosophize about the meaning of it all. We think this is an appropriate blog to celebrate number 700 with! The wine blog world started with people like Gary who just wanted to record their experience with wine, and today it has grown to become so much more! Blogs listed on Wineblogger.info are active as of 2 months ago. Blogs must show a consistent level of activity or they may not remian on the site. While we think most blogs have remained active, we're confident that we have a few in here that don't fit the ...

One Lovely Blog Award

Our Lovely Blog AwardHow appropriate that we at Catavino was awarded the One Lovely Blog Award from Richard of Passionate Foodie, a friend and fellow wine blogger covering all culinary related topics in Boston.  As many of you know, Catavino is the blog behind this site, but we felt it would be much more appropriate to highlight some of the fabulous wine blogs we've discovered through Wine Blogger, in addition to some foodie and tourism blogs we truly enjoy. That said, here is our list: QVinho Jackson and Jomar Brustolin are the two madmen behind this fabulous Brazilian food and wine blog! Sleek, well-designed, well-organized and jam packed with great content, it is without a doubt we would have to give them appropriate accolades ...

Catavino Has a Completely New Look!

cvhomeAs many of you know, the creators of Wineblogger.info are also the people behind Catavino.net. And today, we have the pleasure of announcing a new, more dynamic, look. Styled to allow for better organization, and cleaner design, it's a step towards a more inclusive wine blog. But the launch of this new design gave us an idea. As a wine blog reader, what do you think is vital to have in your blog? Do you need silly widgets, do-dads, and other things? Is Mybloglog important to you? An Open Wine Consortium widget? Feedburner stats? Profiles? Contact? What do you think has to be included in a wine blog to make it useful? As always tell us in the comments below....

II Annual European Wine Blogger Conference: Collating Potential Interest from Wine Bloggers

logo_winebloggerGreetings Wine Bloggers! As the New Year has finally dawned, the time has come for us to think about new and exciting events in 2009. One such event is the European Wine Bloggers Conference. However, before we break the big news, we are trying to get some initial feedback regarding the event. We would love to know how many of you would be interested in attending our conference in mid June in Italy? Mind you, we aren't looking for solid commitments here, just need some feedback to help us make some final decisions in the planning process. In addition, we kindly request that you either pass this message on to other wine bloggers, and/or post this question on your blog, if you tend to attract many wine bloggers to your site. The more wine bloggers we reach, the better idea we have as to ...

Lenn Thompson of LENNDEVOURS on Wine Blogging

Lenn ThompsonWe asked some winebloggers last week to answer some questions about wine blogging. Our first answer is here, and we hope to hear from more of you very soon. If you want to participate, just answer the questions listed in this post and we'll get your response up on the site right away! Cheers, Ryan 1. Why do you feel wine blogging is not a fad? or is it? By definition, a fad is temporary. I don't think anyone with half a brain thinks wine blogs are temporary. There are too many people with too much passion for them to be temporary. They aren't going away. My blog isn't going anywhere. 2. What message do you have for wine PR companies as far as interacting with blogs? Treat us just like you would any other media outlet -- ...

One Wine Dude Answers our Questions

onewinedudeWe asked some winebloggers last week to answer some questions about wine blogging. Our first answer is here, and we hope to hear from more of you very soon. If you want to participate, just answer the questions listed in this post and we'll get your response up on the site right away! Cheers, Ryan Why do you feel wine blogging is not a fad? or is it? It's not a fad. Nothing with real passion behind it is a fad.  The medium may evolve and change, but at it's heart wine blogging is wine media by & for the masses. Once something like that has been liberated, it cannot again become contained. What is one thing wine blogs get right? Passion. What is one thing that wine blogs get wrong or need to improve? It needs to be more than what you drank last night. Have a ...

No More Predictions – Top 10 Things that WON’T Happen in the Online Wine World in 2009

Instrumental temperature record of the last 15... Image via Wikipedia I'm sick of it! Amateur prognosticators trying to tell us what trends to look for in 2009 when it comes to wine, the internet and social media. In then end, almost everyone starts out, "Well, last year I had almost none of my predictions come true, but I'll try again..." Do us a favor, and don't. That said, I can tell you one thing: what won't happen this year! Or rather, I'll place odds of 10 to 1 on any of the following items actually occurring. Seeing that we're here in Spain, I can guarantee that Spanish wineries will not move away from FLASH web design in favor of something useful, ...
